Biocenter Oulu facts

Biocenter Oulu is an umbrella organisation within the University of Oulu. Currently it consists of about 15 groups with a total staff of ca 270 personnel. This includes over 60 project leaders, senior and post-doctoral researchers, 140 Ph.D. and M.D. -Ph.D. students, and over 60 laboratory technicians and other personnel.

Half of these groups are working at the Linnanmaa Campus in the Faculties of Science and Technology and half at the Medical Campus in the Faculty of Medicine and in the University Hospital. Biocenter Oulu administration and majority of core facilities have been concentrated in the Main Building of the Medical Campus, opened in 2003. Thus, the groups at the Biocenter Oulu are scattered, but the mutual interaction is stimulated with a common graduate school, core facility services, joint seminars, symposia and meetings of group leaders.
